Al Terry asked:

Roger Bart and Sussan Foster are here, once again, to steal the show with their fine performances in “Young Frankenstein.” Roger plays the nutty scientist’s grandson, Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, who is a brain surgeon and a professor. Frederick has two choices in the story – either to carry forward his grandfather’s bizarre experiments, in his equally bizarre laboratory, or to flee from his family’s murky past and live a humble and easy life somewhere else as a surgeon.

Sussan Foster plays the sultry Inga, who assists the brain surgeon in his laboratory. She not only lends a helping hand to Frederick, but also steals his heart in the middle of experiments! Will Frederick leave Inga and start a life elsewhere? Will he take Inga with him and escape from the hostile castle that he inherits from his grandfather? Or will he live in the castle with Inga and continue his grandfather’s mad trials on the dead? Or will he fall in love with Inga at all?

The theatre fans are ruffled by the above questions and are rushing to get tickets for “Young Frankenstein”. The box offices can see long lines already. The show is scheduled to open at the Hilton Theatre on November 8, 2007, yet the maddening rush at the windows proves that people are impatient to wait that long. The previews of the show are scheduled to begin from October 11, 2007.

The show is not all dialogues and creepy scenes. It has some unforgettable numbers like “Putting on the Ritz”, “The Transylvania Mania,” and “He Vas My Boyfriend”. The music as well as the lyrics is given by Mel Brooks.

“Young Frankenstein” is based on a movie made in 1974, which was a super hit. It has brought the creative team of “The Producers” together once again. Susan Stroman, a well-known director and choreographer, Mel Brooks, a fine musician and lyricist, and Thomas Meehan, a renowned book writer, have come together to produce yet another smashing hit on Broadway. This time, the name is “Young Frankenstein”!

Besides Roger Bart and Sussan Foster, you will see Shuler Hensley play the role of The Monster; Megan Mullally entertain the audience as Elizabeth; Christopher Fitzgerald displays his acting talent as Igor; and Fred Applegate greet you on the stage as Kemp.

There’s no doubt that you will find it almost impossible to get tickets for your choice from the box office. The best options are internet and phone. You can log online and order tickets for home delivery. You can also dial a number of ticketing services and request for tickets of your choice show. There is greater possibility of getting tickets through these options, as the ticketing services have resources that can arrange for the tickets.

However, you have to be fast in booking tickets, if you want to watch the brain surgeon woo the **** Inga and decide between the weird castle life and an easy life as a surgeon.

Jason Oconnor asked:

The musical Young Frankenstein open on Broadway in November of 2007, and it was a hit right from the beginning. The musical is an adaptation of the 1974 film by Mel Brooks, starring Gene Wilder.

Based on Mary Shelley’s horror novel published in 1818, the Gothic story was first made into a science fiction film in 1910. It has since been made into motion pictures, comics, theatrical performances and even a mini series. There have been sequels of the movie, including Brooks’ Young Frankenstein, a story about the original Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson.

Young Frankenstein is a tongue and cheek look at the original Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson attempt at the “family business” after he discovers he’s inherited the original Frankenstein castle in Transylvania.

After arriving at the castle, Dr. Frankenstein’s grandson begins crazy experiments, among them transplanting a live brain in a cadaver. The experiment works, but the brain in defective. The story then follows the newly created monster as he rampages throughout the village, but also find himself in many crazy situations.

The majority of the plot of this musical is largely adapted from Mel Brooks’ 1974 film with the same name. There are just a few minor variations. The movie depicts the young Dr. Frankenstein as a lecturer at a medical school. In the musical, he is a brain surgeon. Although these are different careers, they do offer him equal qualifications to fulfill the task laid before him.

There is a brief scene in the movie version where the monster encounters a young girl. But you won’t find this scene in the play. However, the creature still meets the blind hermit. These scenes were similar to scenes in the original Frankenstein movie.

In the movie, Elizabeth and the monster get married as do Frederick Frankenstein and Inga. In the musical version, although these four do pair up as already mentioned, the play ends before any nuptials take place. The musical has been expanded and has more scenes and longer scenes due to the musical numbers added to the Broadway production. More humor was also added, making the play a comical experience, indeed.

One of the things that makes it so funny is that Mel Brooks was involved with the musical as much as he was with his 70’s movie. Brooks saw how popular The Producers was, he wanted to duplicate its success with Young Frankenstein. Brooks teamed up with Thomas Meehan and together they created the parody of Brooks’ earlier film.

Both Young Frankenstein the movie and Young Frankenstein the musical have received awards and nominations for awards for their performances in this crazy comical adaptation of what was originally a very serious horror film that left no room for humor.

The Broadway musical production of Young Frankenstein is largely adapted from the hysterical movie version starring Gene Wilder. If you liked the movie, you ought to love this musical. Young Frankenstein is certainly a humorous look at the classic horror novel, Frankenstein.

Although Young Frankenstein performed a pre-Broadway engagement in Seattle August 7 through September 1, 2007, there has been no indication that the humorous musical will be showing at any other venues outside New York City. In New York City, however, the play is performing both on and off Broadway.

Pierce asked:

Walking down the runway, there’s the regular top models: Gemma Ward – 20, Hilary Rhoda – 21, Agyness Deyn – 25, and then there’s the occasional Maddison Gabriel – 13. Wait a second. 13 years old?! Many people might raise their eyebrow when they hear this. I certainly did. But is 12-13 really too young?

Top model and one of the world’s first supermodels, Janice Dickinson, argues against young girls modeling. “There’s lots of drugs, there’s lot of alcohol, there’s lot’s of photographers preying on these girls.” Listening to that I would say that pre-teens and even girls up to 18 are too young to model. But what about Kimora Lee Simmons? Didn’t she have a contract with Chanel at the age of 13? How come people never make a big deal about her?

Another issue about young models is the growing fear of eating disorders. There actually have been deaths amongst the models and that’s when we all know that something is wrong. Even though there’s such a huge controversy over skinny models, Karl Lagerfeld claims, “We don’t see anorexic (girls). The girls are skinny, they have skinny bones.” On the other hand, Vogue’s editor, Anna Wintour is said to be sick of skinny models. Now going back to the main subject. If a young teen gets thrown into the fashion industry, are there chances of her developing an eating disorder? Highly possible, but some argue that since they aren’t fully developed women, there is no reason to worry about their size and weight.

In my opinion, I think their should be a certain age requirement and if the model’s too young, she just won’t be able to model till they grow up. There’s a lot of issues on the line such as sexuality, health problems, and too much stress that models might suffer in the fashion industry. However, I still wonder in awe when I see girls that are just 15 that are beautiful and know how to model. They have talent, no doubt about it, but are they presenting it at too young of an age? Well this debate may take a long time…

Article written by Chloe Jones.
